On June 23 the Connecticut Sun announced that the team had signed Beatrice Mompremier.

Mompremier, a 6’4 forward, was drafted 20th overall in the 2020 WNBA draft by the Los Angeles Sparks.

General manager and head coach Curt Miller said, “We are excited to add Beatrice to our Sun roster. She is a young and talented post player with a high ceiling. Beatrice is a proven collegiate rebounder and crafty scorer who will have the ability to contribute during her rookie season.”

Mompremier started her college career at Baylor University where she averaged 7.7 points, 6.3 points and 1.5 blocks in 14.7 minutes per game in her two years. She then transferred to the University of Miami where she played in 50 games over her final two years of eligibility.

During her time at Miami, she had 34 double-doubles, scored in double figures in 45 games and had double-digit rebounds in 45 games.

Despite being limited by an injury, Mompremier averaged 16.8 points, 9.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. She is just one of three Hurricanes to score 1,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds. She also holds Miami’s single-season rebounds and career rebounding average records.

Mompremier will add another rebounding threat to the Sun, something the team needs after Jonquel Jones announced she would be sitting out the 2020 season. Both her overall rebounding percentage and defensive rebounding percentage ranked in the top 30 nationally her senior season at Miami.

While Mompremier will not single-handedly replace Jones, her contributions on both ends of the floor will instantly help the team as it prepares for the 2020 season.
