For Amanda Zahui B., seeing the world’s reaction the past few weeks to an emerging sense of racial injustice sparked by the police killing George Floyd in Minneapolis has been remarkable to behold.

“it’s a beautiful thing,” she said on a podcast with Howard Megdal Thursday. “It’s beautiful that people are finally realizing that they have a voice and a platform and they know what’s going on in the world. What’s been going on for hundreds of years, and that people are finding the courage to not only speak up for themselves, but for others be an ally. Being a moral and mental support, you know, or just simply say, I am tired of this shit. And I’m standing up for my own rights.

“It’s a beautiful feeling.”

Zahui B. discusses her role in the long, intersectional fight for equality and racial justice in this world, along with how much she misses her WNBA “family”, as she calls it. She even defends the city of Tulsa!

Listen here for all of it.
